A solar charger, such as the Victron SmartSolar MPPT, efficiently gathers energy from your solar panels and meticulously stores it within your batteries. The SmartSolar charge controller is designed to effectively recharge even a severely depleted battery. It possesses the capability to operate with a battery voltage as low as 0 Volts, contingent upon the condition that the cells have not sustained permanent sulphation or other forms of irreversible damage.

MPPT: Ultra Fast Maximum Power Point Tracking

Through the continuous monitoring of voltage and current output from your solar (PV) panels, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology ensures that every available increment of power is extracted from your panels and efficiently harvested for storage. The advantages of this advanced technology are most evident under conditions of partial cloud cover, where light intensity is subject to constant fluctuations.

Remote Monitoring and Control

The SmartSolar MPPT charger provides extensive features that can be remotely controlled and monitored via built-in Bluetooth functionality. Simply pair the device with your smartphone or another compatible device using VictronConnect. For installations connected to the internet, the Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM) grants comprehensive access to the full capabilities of your MPPT, accessible anytime and from any location; both services are offered free of charge. In remote installations lacking internet connectivity or cellular signal, monitoring of your MPPT can be achieved through Bluetooth pairing with a LoRaWAN (long-range wide area network) device, available as an optional accessory.

Load output

The intelligent Load output function safeguards against damage resulting from the complete discharge of batteries. Users can configure the voltage threshold at which the SmartSolar disconnects a load, preventing excessive battery drain. Furthermore, the SmartSolar incorporates a sophisticated algorithm that attempts a 100% recharge on a daily basis. During periods of unfavorable weather conditions that impede full recharge, the disconnect voltage is incrementally raised each day until a successful recharge is achieved. This functionality, known as BatteryLife, is specifically designed to maintain optimal battery health and extend its operational lifespan.
